When Paul McCartney went on tour in 1989 for the first time since a very short Wings outing 10 years earlier, expectations ran high. Paul warmed up with 2 rehearsals at the London Playhouse, then he headed off to Europe. This was Paul’s first tour under his own name (previous solo tours were all booked as Wings) and the first one where he played a substantial number of Beatle tunes. He also featured numerous songs from his recently released and critically acclaimed album, Flowers In The Dirt, including My Brave Face, This One, Rough Ride, We Got Married, Put It There and Figure of Eight. While the new songs sounded good in concert, they weren’t the reason the tour sold out at almost every stop. Folks came to hear Paul recapture his Beatles days, and he did not disappoint. Over half the set list was dedicated to Beatle songs, including Yesterday, Let it Be and Hey Jude. This high quality audience recording captures Sir Paul in Inglewood on November 27, 1989, 20 years ago today. Macca was joined during the encores by the one & only Stevie Wonder for Ebony & Ivory!
