2010 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony - 2010-03-15 - New York, NY (TV SBD)

The 2010 Rock & Roll Hall Of  Fame ceremony featured a list of inductees who truly stretched the boundaries of rock, ranging from Abba to Genesis to The Hollies to the Stooges to Jimmy Cliff.  Genesis didn't perform and Peter Gabriel was a no-show, but Phish, who inducted them, played a set of their tunes. Graham Nash earned his second entry into the Hall as a member of The Hollies, his first having come with CSN. That made CSNY the first band to have all 4 of its members inducted twice (The Beatles would be the second when Ringo was inducted in 2015), though ironically the band is not in the hall! You see, CSN was inducted as a band and Neil Young was honored for his solo career.  Then Neil and Stephen Stills earned their 2nd entries as members of Buffalo Spriingfield while Crosby gained his second as a member of The Byrds.  Jimmy Cliff, who was moved to tears by his induction, performed a stunning set of his biggest hits, You Can Get It If You Really Want, Many Rivers To Cross and The Harder They Come, but unfortunately, it is no where to be found on the web.  If anyone has it, please share!

In 1983, Graham Nash briefly rejoined the Hollies in celebration of the band’s 20th anniversary. The group recorded a new album, What Goes Around, which failed to generate any interest or sales due to very weak material and an overabundance of synthesizer sound. The band’s fall tour in support of the disc also didn’t fare well, with many dates having to be cancelled or shifted to smaller venues due to poor ticket sales. For example, this soundboard recording captures The Hollies at Kings island Amusement Park near Cincinnati on October 2, 1983, 32 years ago today, not quite the largest or most prestigious venue in the area. That said, live Hollies shows are hard to find, so this one is a must have for your collection.

NME Poll Winners Concert - 1964-04-26 - London, UK (SBD)

1960s - #5: The New Musical Express (better known as the NME) is a popular music magazine in the United Kingdom which has been published weekly since March 1952. On November 14, 1952, taking its cue from the U.S. magazine Billboard, NME created the first UK Singles Chart. During the 1960s, the paper championed the new British groups emerging at the time. From 1963 to 1966, NME produced an annual Poll Winners Concert, at which bands voted the best by the paper's readers would perform and accept their award.The shows were filmed, edited and then broadcast on British television. The 1964 Poll Winners Concert was held on April 26 of that year, 51 years ago today. In addition to such acts as The Hollies, Gerry and The Pacemakers, and Manfred Mann, both The Rolling Stones and The Beatles performed! The Beatles, the night's big winners, closed the show with a 5 song set.  Murray The K, the US disc jockey often called the 5th Beatle, introduced the Fab Four, and actor Roger Moore (yes - James Bond!) presented them with their awards!
