The Alarm 1990 - #1: In September 1989, The Alarm released their 4th studio album, entitled Change. The disc paid homage to the group's native Wales, and was accompanied by an alternate Welsh-language version, called Newid. The album spawned the band's highest charting US single, Sold Me Down The River, which reached #50 on the Billboard Hot 100.  This FM broadcast captures The Alarm on tour in support of Change, on February 26, 1990, 28 years ago today, in Germany. Grateful Dead 1990 - #1: While the Grateful Dead have officially released dozens and dozens of live shows, on;y 2 tours have been released in their entirety. One is the legendary Europe 72 run. And the other is ... Phil Lesh 2014 - #1: In 1998, Phil Lesh began playing under the moniker Phil Lesh and Friends  after he had returned to performing following the death of his friend and Grateful Dead band mate Jerry Garcia in 1995. Over the years, the friends have included a virtual who’s who or rock and roll, including Jorma Kaukonen, Trey Anastasio, John Molo, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Joan Osborne, Derek Trucks, and Susan Tedeschi, just to name a few. This FM webcast captures the 2014t incarnation of the band, including Jackie Greene and Jason Crosby, on February 20, 2014, just 4 years ago today. Rolling Stones - 1995-02-16 - Buenos Aires, Argentina (SBD)

Rolling Stones 1995 - #1: In 1994, The Stones released the album Voodoo Lounge, their first album since Steel Wheels, 5 years earlier. It was also their first album on Virgin Records, and the first without Bill Wyman. Voodoo Lounge met with critical acclaim, as many writers called it a return to the glory days of Exile on Main Street and Some Girls. The disc rose to #2 on the charts in the US and won the Grammy for best rock album. In the UK, the disc did even better, reaching the top spot on the album charts. Of course, the Stones embarked on a monstrous world-wide tour in support of the album. The tour began on August 1, 1994, and lasted slightly over a year, grossing over $320 million, a record at the time. The band played 129 shows on 5 different continents. They brought the tour to South America in late January/early February 1995, with stops in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Bob Dylan - 1993-02-15 - Utrecht, Netherlands (SBD)

Bob Dylan 1993 - #1: During the early 1990s, Bob Dylan took a break from writing new songs. Instead, he focused on recording traditional folk songs that had influenced his musical style. In late 1992, he released the disc, Good as I Been to You, which included covers of 17 folk songs, He followed that with another album of traditional tunes in 1993, entitled World Gone Wrong. Both discs received positive critical reviews. For example, famed critic Robert Christgau gave a B+ grade To Good As I Been To You and an A- to World Gone Wrong. This soundboard recording captures Dylan on tour during that period, in the Netherlands, on February 15, 1993, 25 years ago today.  While the set list is filled with Dylan classics, about mid show he plays 2 tunes from Good As I Been To You, Tomorrow Night and Jim Jones.  Download this one, then come back on february 17 ofr part 2 of this set.

Nei Young - 2008-02-14 - Paris,  France (SBD or Ex Aud)

Neil Young 2008 - #1: In March 2005, while working on the Prairie Wind album in Nashville, Neil Young was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. He was treated successfully in an operation performed in a New York hospital on March 29. Two days later, Young passed out on a New York street from bleeding from the femoral artery, which surgeons had used to access the aneurysm. Neil was rushed to the hospital, and once again, recovered. After 2 such close brushes with death, most people would have probably retired to a nice quiet life, thankful to still have some more days ahead of them. Neil Young, however, is not most people. His life since the aneurysm has been as busy as prior to the operation. By September 2005, Prairie Wind had been released, and the album's live premiere in Nashville was immortalized by filmmaker Jonathan Demme in the 2006 film, Neil Young: Heart of Gold. The next year, he was back on the road with CSNY as part of the Freedom of Speech tour, protesting the policies of then President George Bush. In 2007, he released Chrome Dreams II, a sequel to an album he never released! Typical Neil -- always doing things his way! He continued to tour extensively, playing over 100 shows in 2007 and 2008 combined. This soundboard (or excellent audience) recording catches Neil in Paris on February 14, 2008, a decade ago today and just about 3 years after his aneurysm. Bob Weir & Ratdog - 1999-02-12 - Wetlands Preserve, NY (SBD)

Bob Weir 1999 - #1: In February 1999, the New York City night club, Wetlands Preserve celebrated its 10th anniversary with a series of concerts featuring Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Kofi Burbridge, Marc Quinones, Jimmy Herring and the Zen Tricksters, just to name a few. The highlight of the Wetlands anniversary, however,, was a 3 show run by Bob Weir and Ratdog from February 11 to 13. Soundboard recordings exist for all 3 shows, though at this point I have only found nights 2 and 3, so if anyone has the opening night, please leave a comment below this post.  In any event, this soundboard captures night 2, on February 12, 1999, 19 years ago today, with Bobby and Ratdog getting some help from Warren Haynes.  Download this one, then come back tomorrow for the 2nd part of this entry.  One note  - just a few days ago, Bob's songwriting partner during his time with the Grateful Dead, John Perry Barlow passed away at the age of 70. Barlow helped pen Cassidy, Heaven Help the Fool, Black-Throated Wind, Looks Like Rain Mexicali Blues, Estimated Prophet, Hell in a Bucket, The Music Never Stopped" and Throwing Stones, just to name just a few. He was also a cattle rancher, political activist and internet pioneer, a modern day Renaissance Man. For more on Barlow, go here. May he rest in peaces and to quote from Estimated Prophet, be "like an angel standing in a shaft of light, rising up to paradise."

Black Crowes 1995 - #1: In November 1994, The Black Crowes released their third album, entitled Amorica. The album cover, which featured a picture taken from a 1976 bi-centennial edition of Hustler that showed a bikini bottom that failed to cover all of a women’s pubic hair, generated a host of controversy. Some retailers refused to carry the album until the record company re-issed the disc with an alternate cover. Despite the controversy - or maybe because of it - Amorica climbed to #11 on the Billboard charts. This soundboard recording captures the Black Crowes on tour in support of their controversial album in Italy on February 10, 1995, 23 years ago today. Requests For Reposts - A Reminder

Over the last two days, I have received several requests for reports where the requester picks a band, lists every dead link and asks for them all to be re-upped.  While I fully understand folks wanting the music (if they didn't this blog wouldn't have lasted over 8 years), as I have mentioned several times in the past, I simply do not have the time to handle that kind of request.  Ask for one or two shows, and I'l be glad o help.  But mass requests like that are simply going to be deleted and ignored.

Just a reminder - here's our policy on re-posts: 

• If there's a show you would like me to re-post, and you ask using common courtesy, I'll do my best to get to it in 48 to 72 hours. 
• If you are asking me to re-post every dead link for a particular band, well, that's something I simply won't be able to do. Just not enough time in the day and I do have a wife, kids, job, etc.
• If you are rude in your request, you're getting no response
• Also, I will no longer take re-post requests from Anonymous users. Most of the time, the issues outlined above are caused by folks who are Anonymous, so unless you have some kind of identity (such as Speedy, or Wolfclan or AZ Jones, or PigStreet, etc), I won't be honoring the request. Having an identify enables me to determine who is a frequent visitor to So Many Roads and such folks will get priority when it comes to requests for reposts! 

I know that these policies may be disappointing, but its the reality of the situation as there's simply not enough hours in the day to get to everything. Thanks for understanding.
