The man formerly known as Robert Zimmerman entered the Rock Hall Of fame in 1988, the same year as  The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Drifters, The Supremes and early influence, Woody Guthrie, which couldn't have been more appropriate, given Dylan wrote a tune entitled Song for Woody.  Just as appropriate was the fact that Bruce Springsteen made the introduction speech for Bob, given how Springsteen was often refereed to as the next Dylan.  In fact, according to legend, when Dylan first met Springsteen, Bob greeted Bruce by saying “Hey, I hear you’re the new me.”  In any event, this soundboard recording goes back to Dylan's earliest days, a show in Greenwich Village on September 6, 1961, 54 tears ago this very day,

Every Frank Sinatra performance is filled with cover tunes since his career began at a time when few, if any artists, wrote their own songs. This soundboard from December 2, 1961, 52 years ago today includes a host of songs previously sung by other artists, such as My Funny Valentine, Night and Day and In The Still Of The Night. Frank also covers My Blue Heaven, a song which had been a hit for Fats Domino in 1956. Of course, Fats wasn’t the original artist either. The song was written way back in 1924 and has been performed by a dozens of artists over the years, including The Platters, Harry Connick Jr, Marty Robbins and Nat King Cole, just to name a few.

1961 - On the evening of November 4, 1961, 52 years ago today, Bob Dylan performed 22 songs at Carnegie Chapter Hall, an auxiliary practice room next to the legendary main concert hall. Dylan had arrived in New York just 10 month earlier, joining the folk scene in Greenwich Village. He played countless coffee shops and folk cellars, garnering good reviews from several critics, most notably Robert Shelton of the New York Times. As a result, just 9 days prior to this show, he signed his first record deal with Columbia. This FM broadcast captures 14 of the tunes from the Carnegie Chapter Hall performance. Download this one to hear Dylan at the very start of his legendary 6 decade career!

First up, we go back 51 years ago today, to March 14, 1961, where we catch the Johnny Cash Show in Houston. In the early 1960’s, Cash, backed by the Tennessee Three, would tour the US accompanied by a host of other country western artists. This concert also features Johnny Western, Gordon Terry, Claude Gray, and Rose Maddox, as well legends Roger Miller and George Jones before they were famous! This soundboard recording captures the entire performance from Johnny Western’s opening number to Johnny Cash’s concluding set. This one is an historic treasure and a must have for your collection.
