Believe it or not, I've been to 3 concerts by the Go Gos - once in November 1981 at the Palladium, the just a few months later in January 1982 at Madison Square Garden as the lead-in band for The Police, and then, some 18 years later in July 2000 at the PNC Bank Arts Center sharing the bill with the B52s! What can I say - its a guilty pleasure! When you listen to their first two albums - Beauty & The Beat, released in 1981 which went to #2 on the Billboard charts, and Vacation, released in 1982 which went to #8 on the charts, you simply want to get up and dance. As Nick Lowe would say, its pure pop for now people! 

This FM Broadcast captures The Go Gos some 4 decades after they burst on the scene, at the Whiskey A Go Go, the site of some of their earliest performances, on December 14, 2021, 4 years ago today.

Phil Lesh 2021 - Back to Back - #1:  When Phil Lesh returned to the Capitol Theatre in October 2021, he brought as many friends along as he could,  His 9 night stand was broken into three 3 show segments, each featuring a different band line up.  But no trio of shows was more anticipated by fans than the first one, from October 11-13, as it reunited the Phil Lesh Quintet, nicknamed the Q.  That line up, featured, in adddition to Lesh, Warren Haynes on guitar & vocals, Jimmy Herring on guitar, Rob Barraco on keyboards and vocals, and John Molo on drums. The Q's original run, from 2002 to 2003, produced some of the best shows ever played by any iteration of Phil & Friends. 2020s - #4: On July 16, 2021, the Tedeschi Trucks Band released the album Layla Revisted (Live at LOCKN')  which captured their historic performance of the Derek & The Dominos legendary disc on August 24, 2019 in Arrington, VA.  The Tedeschi Trucks band has been linked to that album since the vey birth if each of its two leaders. Propelled by two of the twentieth century’s greatest guitarists, Eric Clapton and Duane Allman, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs was released on November 9, 1970, the very day of Susan Tedeschi was born. Derek Trucks,  nephew of Butch Trucks who played alongside Duane Allman, was named after Clapton's alias. Decades later, Trucks would enjoy a fifteen-year tenure as a member of The Allman Brothers Band, and tour extensively with Clapton.  Derek Trucks once said that “By the time that I started playing guitar, the sound of Duane Allman’s slide was almost an obsession, His playing on Layla is still one of the high-water marks for me."  Given all that, the Tedeschi Trucks Band seemed destined to play Layla at some point in their career.  On July 17, 2021, 2 years ago today and just a day after the Layal Revisted album was released, the band was on the CBS Saturday Sessions program, as captured in this TV sounboard reording, promting the disc ny playing several tracks from it live from Westville Music Bowl in New Haven.

2020s -#2:  On July 6, 2021, Jimmy Buffett launched his life on the Flip Side tour with a concert in Nashville.  This Fm broadcast captures him 4 days later, in Nobelsville, on the 3rd date of the tour, om July 10, 2021, 2 years ago today. About a year after this show, health issues forced Jimmy to take about a 9 mopnth break from touring but he's back out on the road again in 2023!
