After the tragic death of bassist Allen Woody in August 2000, Warren Haynes and Matt Abts decided to soldier on with Gov't Mule, recruiting David Schools as their new bass player.  The Spring 2001 tour was dubbed the New School Of Mule, a play of the new bassist's name and also a reflection of the fact that the band was entering a new stage. Overcoming adversity the Mule continued to deliver searing live performances, as evidenced in this soundboard recording from Gainsville on April 8, 2001, 2 decades ago today.
