When the Grateful Dead took a hiatus from touring between October 1974 and June 1976. Bob Weir joined his long time pal, Matthew Kelly in the band Kingfish. Weir's arrival had two major impacts on the band, which were both a blessing and a curse. First, Kingfish finally got a recording contract, thanks to the Grateful Dead's new label, Round Records. Second, from that point in they were often identified as Bob Weir's backing band. This excellent audience  recording captures Kingfish with Weir in Boston on April 6, 1976, 35 years ago today.
