To close out 2010, we have 2 posts for you, both from the Cow Palace in San Francisco from December 31, 1973, 37 years ago this day. This post features the opening act that New Year’s Eve, The Marshall Tucker Band. The band had released their self titled debut album in April 1973, part of the growing Southern Rock movement that was gaining popularity at the time. The album featured 8 songs, all written by Toy Caldwell, including Can’t You See, which would become a staple of FM radio play. The disc was recorded at Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia, where the Allman Brothers also recorded. Given they shared the same studio, its only fitting that the Marshall Tucker Band served as the Allmans' lead-in on New Year's Eve 1973. Download this soundboard, then come back later today for the main set from Allman Brothers and some very special guests.
