On February 1, 1970, The Doors released their 5th studio album, Morrison Hotel, a return to the band’s roots after the experimental nature of their previous disc, Soft Parade. The band’s approach seemed to work, as Morrison Hotel reached #4 on the Billboard charts. The album also received positive critical reviews. For example, Dave Marsh, the editor of Creem magazine, the album was: "the most horrifying rock and roll I have ever heard. When they're good, they're simply unbeatable. I know this is the best record I've listened to ... so far.” While the album did not yield any top 40 singles, it did include tunes that would become staples of FM radio play, including Roadhouse Blues, Waiting For The Sun and Peace Frog. The band went on tour in the Spring in support of the album. This soundboard recording captures the band on June 6, 1970, 43 years ago today, in Vancouver, opening their set with Roadhouse Blues from their new disc. Download this one to hear The Doors on their last tour before Jim Morrison would die at the age of 27 on July 3, 1971. Speedy , you have the best blog on the web, thanks for sharing all this great music, understand why you have to remove this show if its official. Do you know if the official is warts and all or another of those unfortunate overdub filled studio creations, saw the official at my local barnes and noble music section and the price was a wopping $20.00 plus more songs were on the official though. Know that you are a big Dead fan and a lot of their officials are untouched with no overdubs and edits, the doors have also released a lot of live stuff recently as well, do you know if they are releasing theirs in a similar manner warts and all as the dead shows , thanks so much

Know that the doors like the grateful dead material has been receiving a lot of live official releases lately,any idea whether or not they are warts and all like most live music fans prefer and not the studio enhanced crap that we are often forced to buy if we want to hear our favorite artists. These officials are pretty costly over $20.00 in the stores if you can find them. Oh for the days that you could go to your local record shop to buy albums and everything was available . the guy working was often in a rock band himself and would talk to you minutes on end about which albums were great vs which ones sucked. nowdays at least where I live Best Buy or Barnes and Noble are about the only places you can buy CDs and the people waiting on you are all modern people in their early 20s who if you asked what section the doors were in they would point you to the nearest exit to the store,

I'm sorry but i don't have a handle on the official Doors release of this show. Not sure if its been re-touched in any way. Maybe some of the other visitors to So many Roads have more insight on the subject.
Speedy ,this is a true story, a few months ago I went to Best Buy to look for some CDs , I asked where the Led Zeppelin section was because as usual unlike when we were young nothing was in correct order. Nobody knew much about any of the artists that I was looking for. All very young preppy looking guys and gals ranging in age from I guess 18 to 23. When I asked one of them about Led Zep he said and this is the truth who is he. can you believe it, they also had never heard of ten years after or Jethro Tull. The manager was only about 30 himself and didn't know much more than the others. I got so frustrated I walked out. Do you get as frustrated by this stuff as I do? they did of course know about the beatles but everyone knows about them. I am sure glad that I was young in the 70s and not have to be that age now.Also its very hard to find concept albums in stores any more they are either out of print or you have to special order them, almost all you see are best ofs or greatest hits. As Mr Dylan once wrote - The Times They Are A Changing. unfortunate that a generation of folks seems to have missed some of the greatest music ever made. But, I don't let it worry me because nothing I can do about it. I just enjoy the fact that so many folks still listen, are still passionate about it, and even take some time to visit my little place on the web where we can continue to share the music.!
Speedy, this seems to be the most passionless generation I can remember. most of the young people walk around with faces of stone with an I PHone glued to their ear. Back in the day there was the viet nam war and young people were protesting it as well as other unjust things that were going onat the time, today there are just as many unpleasant things going on if not more, in fact todays society in my opinion has more corruption than it did back in the 60s and 70s. but where is the youthful outrage that was there then. Young people today don't give a bleep. but then again the Airplane, Grateful Dead, CSNY.Dylan,Simon and Garfunkel ecc have been replaced by The Beiber Miley, Britney, American Idol creations ecc, not to mention all the vulgar Rap artists, so maybe its no wonder todays young people are walking robots as these so called celebraties don't exactly inspire passion do they. Think ill put on some CSNY and remember a much better time
Fortunately my kid hates this modern computerized stuff also, She's in her early 20s and likes Beatles, Beach Boys, Joni Mitchell, loves Bowie Mamas and Papas, Dylan, Airplane, Simon and Garfunkel ecc, also loves Motown as well as blues and jazz, Supremes, Miles Davis , Coltraine ecc . Obviously these tastes put her in the miniority with her peers who swear by the no talent vulgar Mileys and beibers or the world but that's fine with me , Im truly blessed
Interesting comments, couldn't agree more not only that but correct me if I'm wrong, Can't someone with no talent who cant sing go into a recording studio today and because of todays technollagy be made to sound great via computer enhancement now that's a depressing thought. was told by someone young recently that some of these concerts today by some of the above mentioned no talents were actually lip syncing to background vocals UGH, say it aint so
Speedy, just purchased the official recording of this show and it gives me great pleasure to report to you that you can put it with Neils massy hall and Dylans 66 official. It seems to be a true warts and all recording with no horrible overdubs and edits. Sounds like a good boot not too slick like you are actually there, also as was the case quite often during the 70 tour Morrison seem pretty drunk which only adds to the legend. Albert King plays on a few songs as well, My advise is for any doors fan to purchace this its the real deal
speedy , I did finally purchace the official release of this show and for a change they appear to have gotten it right, sounds very raw untouched with no overdubs or edits, Jim Morrison sounds very drunk for this one as he was quite often on the 1970 tour as he at that time as most peopleknow was on a downward spirial . a year later he would be gone. Albert King joins them o stage for some blues numbers. In my opinion this is a very rare warts and all official.
