On March 18, 1967, 51 years ago this very day, Simon & Garfunkel launched their first European Tour with a concert at the Royal Albert Hall, as captured in this soundboard recording.  The duo dazzled the London crowd with their harmonies. Nick Jones of Melody Maker wrote ‘Two people, one guitar, gave a concert of overwhelming beauty, compassion, and entertainment at London’s vast Royal Albert Hall… where enormous crowds flocked to see Simon and Garfunkel’s only London appearance. Paul Simon is mainly responsible for the songwriting, and his fiery guitar playing makes enough sound to be a complete backing group. But they don’t need one. Lean, blond Garfunkel stands rather shyly in the gloom as Paul gradually builds up rapport with the audience, slowly, delightfully nervously, breaking ice that must be broken for everyone to enjoy themselves. This is done mainly with their songs – beautiful harmonies, words biting home, guitar passages punching behind the lyric, driving, and falling."
