Readers of this blog know that I've often discussed WNEW-FM in New York, the station I grew up on, the station whose motto was "Where Rock Lives" and the station where rock was often LIVE, as they broadcast countless concerts to the tri-state area.  Today, we have one of those live broadcasts a concert featuring Warren Zevon at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ celebrating the stations's 20th anniversary, on August 26, 1994, 17 years ago today. Warren Zevon opened the night, followed by The Band.

What a great thing to wake up to! Just doesn't get any better than Zevon. If there was any sense in this world he woulda been big as Elvis. Thanks so much for this. Speedy! And for everything else.

Thank you for posting this awesome recording!
For those not acquainted with Warren Zevon's music, the artwork is not completely correct:

Track 5 is Boom Boom Mancini
Track 7 is Seminole Bingo

WNEW-FM's rock format began in 1968 not 1974. I was listening back then. Maybe it was the 20th anniversary of the saying "Where Rock Lives" or the 20th anniversary of the Stone Pony?
