In 1985, Edie Brickell was invited to sing with friends from her old high school in a local folk rock group, New Bohemians. Soon after, she would join the band as lead singer. Three years later, their 1988 debut album, Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars, became surprise critical and commercial success. The album sold over 3 million copies and climbed tho #4 on the Billboard charts. The single, What I Am, went to # 7 on the Billboard charts and received extensive airplay on MTV. The band's follow up album, however, failed to excite critic or fans, and by 1992.the band was no more. Brickell married Paul Simon that year and launched a solo career in 1994. She has reformed the band on a variety of occasions since 1994, often times for charity or fund raising events. The band even recorded an album, Stranger Things, in 2006, and another, Rocket, in 2018.  This soundboard matrix recording captures Edie and the New Bohemians in her home town of Dallas, on April 17, 2017, just 2 years ago today.
