CSNY 1970 - Back to Back - #4: Over the last 3 days, we’ve brought you the June 4, 5 and 6 shows from CSNY’s legendary run at the Fillmore East in 1970. Today we have a soundboard recording from the June 7 show, 50 years ago today, which while incomplete, still helps you understand why CSNY, along with Blind Faith, were considered the first rock “super groups. These shows were among the first CSNY played after recording and releasing Ohio, a tune that placed accountability for the tragic shootings at Kent State right at the feet of President Nixon. The tune was also a pivotal moment in the band’s opposition to the policies of the Nixon administration both at home and in Viet Nam. Download this one, therefore, to relive a time when rock music and anti-establishment were almost synonymous.

I grew up in New Jersey. I was at one of these shows. They played for quite a long time and we almost missed the PATH back to Hoboken.
As I recall tickets were 6 or 7 dollars, nowhere the astronomical prices today.
After the Fillmore closed our go to places were the Academy of Music and of course the Capitol Theater.
