Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin' - AGAIN & AGAIN - Some Good News

Well, the saga of Bob and his boots just keeps rolling along (see below the dotted line for some past history). Looks like Mr. Dylan, much like Mr. Morrison, has fired Web Sheriff. Hooray! More and more sites have been posting Dylan bootlegs in recent weeks. I'm slowly going to restore therefore, all the posts and links that I have to Dylan concerts. I've started with 3 shows of Bob with The Band from 1974. Just go to the artist list in the sidebar, click on either Bob Dylan or The Band, then scroll down till you find the show. The links to the concert, as always, in in the middle of the post. Enjoy! I'll keep you posted as I restore more links! And lets hope this time these can stay up for everyone to enjoy!

Over the last few months, the saga of Bob Dylan bootlegs has been quite a roller coaster ride. At one point, I got word that DIME had banned all Bob Dylan bootlegs because they had been threatened with legal action if they did not remove them from their site. Then I heard that DIME has taken Dylan off the banned list and could once again post his shows! Then on Wednesday, all my Dylan posts were removed by Megaupload. I put them all back up, only to find out 30 minutes ago, they were all taken down again. So at this point, I am not going to repost those shows. I don't want to take a risk that my site is taken down or that my Megaupload account is canceled. Looks like we will have to live without any of Mr. Robert Zimmerman. Its a shame that Dylan has taken the Van Morrison route, but at least there's plenty of other great music to share.

Update as of April 5 - Mr. Zimmerman has hired Web Sheriff, following in the footsteps of Van Morrison. They contacted me yesterday to remove all my Dylan posts, which I had left on my site so folks could read about the shows, even though I had deleted the links to the music weeks ago! Seems that they don't want any references to Bob's bootlegs on the web, including posting of the set lists and artwork! So, I've removed them all to protect my site from any legal action. The only reference you'll find on this site, therefore, to Bob Dylan is this one! As I said above, it's a shame, but we have plenty of other music for you!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the comments over the last week or so. I apologize for not responding to all of them sooner but I was away on vacation. Bob Dylan - 1962-07-02 - Montreal, Canada (SBD)

In March 1962, Bob Dylan released his self-titled debut album, which was produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who had signed Dylan to the label. The album featured folk standards, with only 2 two original compositions, Talkin' New York and "Song to Woody. The disc failed to chart, and sold barely enough copies to break even. As a result, some at Columbia referred to Dylan as “Hammond’s Folly”. How wrong they were. This soundboard recording captures Dylan later that same year on July 2, 1962, 49 years ago today. Download this one to hear Dylan at the very beginning of his legendary career.

David Bowie - 1996-06-25 - Toulon, France (SBD) 

On June 4, 1996, David Bowie launched the Outside Summer Festivals Tour at the famed Budokan Hall in Tokyo. The tour was in support of the album Outside, which had been released in late 1995 and marked the first time Bowie had worked with Brian Eno since the 1970s. The tour would run until July 21 and encompass 27 shows in Asia and Europe. This soundboard recording captures Bowie in France on June 25, 1996, 15 years ago today.

Graham Parker - 1979-06-24 - Seattle, WA (FM)

In the late 1970's, as the punk and new wave scene flourished, the UK produced the 3 angry men of rock and roll - Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson and Graham Parker. Of the 3, Graham Parker often gets over looked, which is shame. His first two albums, Howling Wind and Heat Treatment, both released in 1976, were widely hailed by critics. For example, Robert Christgau gave both discs a grade of A! In March 1979, Parker released his masterpiece, Squeezing Out Sparks. The album was not only a critical success, but also a commercial one, as the disc cracked the top 40 on the Billboard charts. Songs from the album, such as Discovering Japan, Local Girls, Passion Is No Ordinary Word and Love Gets You Twisted, all received extensive FM airplay. Parker and his band the Rumour toured the US in support of the disc in the spring of 1979. This FM broadcast from that tour captures Parker live from Seattle on June 24, 1979, 32 years ago today. Download this one and you'll be reminded of why Parker was once mentioned in the same breath as Costello and Jackson.

The Clash - 1980-06-14 - Rettel, France (FM)

Recorded in the summer of 1979, and released on December 14 of that year, London Calling is often hailed as the greatest album of the punk/new wave era. Rolling Stone ranked it 8th of its list of the 500 best albums of all time. Robert Christgau described London Calling as "warm, angry, and thoughtful, confident, melodic, and hard-rocking" and called it "the best double-LP since Exile on Main Street." The cover photo, which features Paul Simonon smashing his bass, a perfect punk rock moment, was shot at The Palladium in New York on September 21, 1979. This soundboard recording captures The Clash on tour in support of London's Calling at the Rettel Festival in France on June 14, 1980, 31 years ago today.
