Bob Marley 1978 - #1: In December 3, 1976, Bob Marley, his wife, and manager were wounded in an assault by unknown gunmen inside the singer’s home in Jamaica, in what was believed to be a politically motivated attack. Nonetheless, Marley performed just 2 days later at a concert before a crowd of over 80,000 people. When asked why, Marley responded, "The people who are trying to make this world worse aren't taking a day off. How can I?” Marley then spent a month in the Bahamas recovering from his wounds, after which he moved to London, where he spent the next 2 years in self-imposed exile. While in the UK, Marley recorded the albums Exodus, released in 1977, and Kaya, released in April of the following year. The release of Kaya coincided with the One Love Peace Concert held in Jamaica on April 22, 1978. At that concert, Marley made his triumphant return to Jamaica after his 2 year stint in London. This soundboard recording captures Marley just a few weeks later, during the early show in Boston, on June 8, 1978, 43 years ago this very day.  Download this one, then come back later today for the late show in this Same Tour, Different Show set!
