Sheryl Crow released her greatest hits collection, entitled The Very Best of Sheryl Crow on October 13, 2003 in the United Kingdom and on November 4, 2003 in the United States. The album was a commercial success on both sides of the pond, reaching No. 2 on both the UK Album Chart and the Billboard 200. The album sold over 4 million units in the US between 2003 and 2008. This soundboard recording catures her on the program Sounstage on August 5, 2003, 2 decades ago today, promoting the upcoming release that album.

Sheryl Crow may be the unlikeliest artist we post this month, but believe it or not, she's connected to all 3 of our featured bands, especially the Allman Brothers. In an interview with Billbaord Magazine,  Sheryl explained the Allmans were "a major sound of my childhood. I grew up with parents who listened to the Allman Brothers and they grew up on the Mississippi and that was our home kind of music, music that was blues-influenced and rock and roll and very Southern."  In 1994, Sheryl and the Allman Brothers were both part of the Horde Tour In 1995, Sheryl joined the Allmans on Midnight Rider  at The Concert for The he Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. During the Allman's 40th anniversary run at the Beacon Theatre in 2009, Sheryl sat in with the band for several tunes at their March 17 concert.

Sheryl has also been on stage with members of The Band and the Grateteful Dead. As mentioned in our Traffic post a few days ago, she was part of an all star group backing Levon Helm on The Weight at the 1997 VH1 Honors ceremony. She's also sang Evangeline with him on several occaisions.  In 2019, Sheryl joined Phil Lesh on stage for a rousing version of Not Fade Away, as she not only handled the vocals, but also played harmonica (see it here)!
