In February 2004, Elton John took up residence at the Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas for a nightly show entitled The Red Piano. Elton originally was slated to perform 25 shows a year at Caesar’s over 3 years, but wound up doing over 40 shows annually from 2004 through 2008, before ending the run with around 20 Las Vegas performances in 2009. The set list each night was the same, a run of 15 of Elton’s greatest hits such as Your Song, Bennie and The Jets, Rocket Man and Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting. The Red Piano proved so successful in Las Vegas, that Elton took the show to Europe for short runs in both 2008 and 2009. This soundboard recording captures Elton performing a slightly expanded Red Piano set in Dusseldorf on October 15, 2009, just 3 years ago today.
