When Pink Floyd decided to play The Wall in its entirety live on stage it was an undertaking unlike any other previous rock concert. The extensive and expensive sets, including building a wall across the stage to separate the band from the audience and convey the sense of alienation at the core of the album, limited how frequently the band could perform the show. As a result, Pink Floyd’s 1980/1981 The Wall tour consisted of only 31 shows in just 4 cities - Los Angeles, New York, Dortmund and London. This high quality audience recording captures the next to last performance of The Wall by Pink Floyd on July 16, 1981, 37 years ago today, at London’s Earl Court. It was also the next to last show by the band with Roger Waters.
