Whatever you do today, please take a moment to remember the innocent people who lost their lives in the tragic attacks on our nation that took place on September 11, 2001. It has been 17 long years, and while time has passed, the memory must never fade. In the end, freedom, justice, liberty, and virtue, the hallmarks of this great nation, will prevail against any and all terrorist threats, as Osama Bin Laden learned the hard way.
In the words of our greatest president, Abraham Lincoln:
"that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

This is etched in many Americans minds, i recall sitting down my 8 1/2 and 12 year old children and reminding them that there is so much hatred in the world, that it was up to us to shine brightness in this dark world. I was at work and i heard a coworker who was on a break watching her miniature TV in her office as the first plain hit the Trade Center say very loudly WTF!!!! we were too buy (psychiatric triage) to soak it in and focused on our clients till we could grieve quietly.
Thanks for remembering. In many ways, we are still running around in chaos, in the aftermath.

My God, the so-called "Freedom Tower" is one of the ugliest buildings I've ever seen. It looks absolutely Orwellian (which is pretty fitting), especially from a distance and at night, it looks like a headstone with an antennae on it. What a blot on our skyline. And right under it is an absolutely ugly, overdesigned, extremely expensive subway station (that's basically a mall for rich people). It's shaped almost like a plane or a bird with it's wings going down.....who ever designed that one should have their drafting pencils taken away.
The air smelled like death in the days after 9/11, even uptown, people were walking around with their hands over their mouths. About a month later, ANOTHER jet plane crashed into a Queens neighborhood, and then around Christmas time some wacko drove his car into crowds of Xmas shoppers at peak rush hour, in midtown. It was a pretty lousy time.
