Joe Cocker finally entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2025, alongside Warren Zevon, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and Cyndi Lauper, just to name a few members of the class. Perhaps Cocker's induction was helped by Sir Paul McCartney, who penned a note to the Hall on his behalf.

This FM broadcast captures Cocker in San Francisco on April 26, 1970, 56 years ago today, on tour in support of his first 2 albums.  About a year earlier,  in April 1969, he had released his first album, With A Little Help From My Friends. The title track, of course, was a classic Beatles tune, and Cocker’s unique version met with the approval of the Fab Four. The album went gold and climbed to #35 on the Billboard charts. Then in August, he appeared at Woodstock, playing a 13 song set on Sunday afternoon, August 17. In November, he released his 2nd album, which included 2 more Beatles covers, Something and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, as well as the classic tune, Delta Lady.
