Jerry & Merl 1973 - Back to Back - #1: From December 1970 to June 1975, Jerry Garcia, when not playing with the Grateful Dead, often found himself collaborating with keyboardist Merle Saunders. In fact, Garcia and Saunders played over two-hundred and fifty shows together, The duo even released a live album together, entitled Live At Keystone featuring tracks from their concerts at that venue in Berkeley on July 10 and 11, 1973. This soundboard recording finds the duo about 6 months later, in San Francisco, on January 24, 1973, 4 dozen years ago today. By the way, the duo's January 23, 1973 show was officially released as Garcia Live Volume 12, so you know the these shows catch Jerry & Merl at a good time!
