1990s - #4: Rio De Janeiro, Brazil’s 2nd largest city, has become a hotbed for Rock & roll. In addition to the Rock in Rio festival, Rio hosted the Hollywood Rock Festival in the 1980’s and 1990s. By the way, the name of the festival was not related to Hollywood, California but rather was taken from a brand of cigarettes that sponsored the event. Robert Plant headlined the 1994 edition of the festival, along with Aerosmith, Poison, Ugly Kid Joe, Sepultura, Live and Whitney Houston. This soundboard recording captures Plant’s set from January 22, 1994, 28 years ago today.

One of these things is not like the other! I mean, nothing against Whitney Houston, but how does she end up on THAT bill? Even Live seems a little out of place, but not nearly so much.
