A few years ago, we posted the Allman Brother Band legendary New Year's Eve show from the Cow Palace in San Francisco on December 31, 1973. At that concert, Jerry Garcia, Bill Kreutzman and Boz Skaggs joined the Allmans about halfway through the 2nd set, helping create an incredible night of music to ring in the new year. incredibly, the Allmans were also scheduled for a show on January 1, 1974, 38 years ago today. This show proceeds at a slightly slower pace than New Year's Eve, perhaps reflecting the band's need to relax and recover just a bit. As the show winds down, though, the band ramps it up, especially when joined for the final few numbers by Elvin Bishop, John Lee Hooker, Charlie Daniels, Steve Miller and Buddy Miles.
