I'd be willing to bet that most readers of So Many Roads spent their 26th birthday at their favorite bar or pub, surrounded by friends with great rock and roll playing in the background. Jimmy Page spent his 26th birthday, however, just a tad bit differently. He was on stage with Led Zeppelin, at the Royal Albert Hall which in his words was "at the time, the largest and most prestigious gig in London". Led Zep's RAH concert on January 9. 1970. 42 years ago today. was the 3rd night of their 8 show UK winter tour. These were the band's first shows in their home country since the release of Led Zeppelin II back in October 1969. That album, which featured such classics as Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker, and Ramble On, just to name 3, went to number 1 in both the UK and the US. Download this soundboard recording and play it loud in honor of Jimmy's 68th birthday.

Thanks for another great undoctored TRUE LIVE PERFORMENCE, Speedy please indulge me as i have to get this off my chest, I am suddenly in a state of depression as last night I listened for the first time to how the west was won. Great sound and performance at a time when they were at their peak. However I was made aware of the fact that two different shows were used and that they added a mellatron from a show almost a year later to stairway,pluse tangerine as well as other songs were not included in the release,Why wouldnt Jimmy Page just release the complete LA Forum show from 72 in its entirity as a raw soundboard rather than put two shows together with all these edits and skipped songs as I assume he had the complete soundboard recordings. maybe the record companies insist that artists do this. I cant listen to this album again because like you i am a purist and would rather hear something that may not sound perfect but at least know that its real Sorry for going on for so long about this but I now feel as i did when i found out about get yer ya yas out also one of my favorite live albumns of my youth.Ive seen you comment on this before so im hopeing for some feedback. Why do you feel that they do this its dishonest to the fans, Please respond and once again sorry about going on for so long but this is too much and thanks for what you do for music lovers everywhere.
