From October 1974 to June 1976, The Grateful Dead took an extended break from touring from October 1974 to Spring 1976. During the Dead's hiatus, Bob Weir joined his long time pal, Matthew Kelly in the band Kingfish. Weir's arrival had two major impacts on the band, which were both a blessing and a curse. First, Kingfish finally got a recording contract, thanks to the Grateful Dead's new label, Round Records. Second, from that point in they were often identified as Bob Weir's backing band. This soundboard recording captures Kingfish with Weir on their home turf in San Francisco on February 7, 1976, 4 dozen years ago this very day!

Thanks Speedy, love anything Dead related ,70s were a great time for music.By the way love the way that people who visit your blog are usually very nice,knowledgeable ,and respectful of others even when opinions differ, I bring this up because there is a blog called the Big O that while the music posts and the blog itself is great,some of the people commenting on the posts throw around insults at each other even using filthy language to throw insults at one another,was going to show it to my son but some of the language and the insults back and forth between people commenting is too much,Didnt know if you had heard of the blog. Others like you Just Dave ecc seem to attract people who share an interest in discussing music and show respect to others, The Big O is fast becoming a place where people go to hurl insults, very dissapointing
thanks for the kind words. I do visit the Big ) website for the shows but I don't really loom a the comments. I monitor all comments on my site and if something looks out of line, I don't allow it to post.
The big O has had many good shows lately honoring many greats who have passed away,Bowie,Glenn Frey,Paul Kantner among others and while some of the comments are respectful and offer nice tributes ,the knuckleheads have to get their vulgarity and x rated insults into the mix.Passionate debates and disagreements are fine but when name calling and dirty language begin then it crosses the line, People like that ruin it for everyone else
Read the comments on the Big O,you are right there are some real knuckleheads commenting on that site ruining it for everyone else, shame because like yours Speedy it is a very good blog, Hope The Big O dosent shut down because of it would be really disapointing
