Released in 1993, the Counting Crtwos debut album, August & Everything After, went to #4 on the Billboard charts in the strength of such songs as Mr. Jones, Round here and Rain King. The disc propelled the band to stardom and they spent the next 2 years on the road, touring relentlessly. They didn't go back into the studio to work on their second album until early 1996.  That new disc, entitled Recovering The Satellites, released in October 1996, went to #1 on the Billboard charts, but received mixed reviews from the critics. Rolling Stone found the tunes, which dealt with the challenges of the band's new found fame, to be "deeply satisfying", and felt the band "largely achieved their serious ambitions." The Independent gave the album a far more negative review, calling the songs "self-pitying", and criticizing lead singer and song writer Adam Duritz for his inability "to shut up about himself".  The band went on tour in 1997 in support of the album, including a spring run in Europe. This soundboard recording captures the band during that trip across the pond, in London on May 15, 1997, 26 years ago today.
