Steve Winwood - 2004-03-16 - New York, NY (SBD)

On March 15, 2004, Steve Winwood was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of Traffic in a ceremony held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Also inducted that year were Bob Seger, George Harrison, Jackson Browne, Prince, The Dells and ZZ Top. Dave Matthews handled the induction speech, though many felt Eric Clapton should have been accorded the honor due to his work with Winwood in Blind Faith.  In any event, the next night, March 16, 2004, 17 years ago toay, Winwood was back on stage, this time at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden for the 4th Annual Jammy Awards! He was the recipient of that year's Lifetime Achievement Award. Chris Robinson presented the award. In his brief acceptance speech, Winwood exclaimed, "It's nice to know I've been jamming for the past forty years!" This soundboard recording captures Winwood's set that night, featuring tunes from his long storied career, including his time with the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and his solo efforts.
