GD 1981 - Back To Back - #1: In early 1981, the Grateful Dead embarked on a brief winter tour, primarily along the East coast, before heading across the pond for the first of 2 trips to Europe that year. That winter run included 2 shows at Madison Square Garden, the 6th and 7th perfromances of what would grow to be 52 shows at the World's Most Famous Arena, a record that was later broken by Elton John and Billy Joel. This soudnbaord recordimg captures the first night at the Garden, on March 9, 1981, 41 years ago today.
