Phil Lesh 2014 - Back to Back - #1: In 1998, Phil Lesh began playing under the moniker Phil Lesh and Friends after he had returned to performing following the death of his friend and Grateful Dead band mate Jerry Garcia in 1995. Over the years, the friends have included a virtual who’s who or rock and roll, including Jorma Kaukonen, Trey Anastasio, John Molo, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Joan Osborne, Derek Trucks, and Susan Tedeschi, just to name a few. This webcast recording captures the 2014 incarnation of the band, featuring Joe Russo, Jackie Greene, John Kadlecik, Jordan Levine and Jason Crosby, on March 6, 2014, just 8 years ago today. The concert took place at The Grate Room at Terrapin Crossroads, a restaurant and concert hall near the yacht harbor in San Rafael, CA. a venue built by none other than Phil himself! Unfortunately, Terrapin Crossroads closed last year, after Phil and his wife Jill could not find a sustainable way to keep it running (go here for their statemnt).
