1995 - In 1995, Joan Osbourne, released her 2nd album and first on a major label, entitled Relish. The disc went to #9 on the Billboard charts, propelled there by the single One Of Us, which climbed all the way to the #4 spot. The song received Grammy nominations in 1996 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. This WNEW-FM broadcast captures Joan doimng a promotional show for the album and single at Tower Records in New York , on October 19, 1995, 27 years ago today. By the way - I really miss both Tower Records and WNEW, both integral parts of my rock and roll education!

I didn't have access to Tower until the early-nineties, but they quickly became my favorite record store.
There's a doc on Tower Records that is worth searching out.
Thanks for the tip about the Tower records documentary - I'll have to find that!
