GD 1990 - Back To Back - #1: For the Grateful Dead, 1990 was, to paraphrase Dickens,  the best of times, and the the worst of times. The band celebrated its 25th anniversay, and was the middle year of a 3 year renaissance (1989-1991) where the band was playing almost as well as it had back in the glory days of the 1970s. That claim is supported by the fact that every Spring 1990 show has been officially released, making it only the 2nd tour, after Europe 72, released in its entirety. Yet, the year was marked by tragedy, as keyboardist Brent Mydlan diesdfrom an overdose on July 26, 1990.  This 3 show Back To Back set feature's Mydland's last 3 concerts with the Dead prior to his tragic passing, starting with this soundboard recording from July 21, 1990, 34 years ago this very day.
