2000s - #2: In the wake of the original (and subsequent) breakups and reunions of Simon and Garfunkel, the former has established himself as a significant solo artist in his own right. Simon has also used his musical talents to support numerous social causes. He is a major benefactor and one of the co-founders, with Dr. Irwin Redlener, of the Children's Health Project and The Children's Health Fund. We’ve presented several benefit shows here at So Many Roads that Simon played in support of that endeavor. In addition, he has sponsored several projects to support musical education for children. Moreover, Simon has worked with Paul McCartney for the Adopt A Minefield charity, an organization which raises awareness about landmines and their dangers, and raises funds to clear minefields and help survivors of landmine accidents. On June 14, 2001, Simon joined McCartney for a benefit concert for the foundation in Beverly Hills, CA. The night before, June 13, 2013, 11 years ago today, Simon played a concert in Los Angeles, where Sir Paul stopped by to play a version of I’ve Just Seen A Face with Simon.
