U2 - 2000s: While the last leg of the 2001 Elevation Tour is remembered for U2's remarkable tribute to the victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, the early parts of the tour were a celebration of the band's amazing new album, All That You Can't Leave Behind. Following the mixed reception to their 1997 album, Pop, U2 returned to their roots for All That You Can't Leave Behind. At the time of the album's release, U2 said on a number of occasions that they were "reapplying for the job of the best band in the world". The public and critics heartily approved, as the disc sold over 12 million copies and won 7 Grammy Awards. The songs Beautiful Day, Walk On, Elevation, and Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of all reached the top 5 on the Billboard charts in the United Kingdom. Of course, many of the album's songs, especially Walk On, New York and Peace On Earth, would take on new meaning in the wake of the events of 9-11. This IEM Matrix recording captures the band in Indianapolis on May 10, 2001, 15 years ago today.
