Rolling Stones 1995 - #1: In 1994, The Stones released the album Voodoo Lounge, their first album since Steel Wheels, 5 years earlier. It was also their first album on Virgin Records, and the first without Bill Wyman. Voodoo Lounge met with critical acclaim, as many writers called it a return to the glory days of Exile on Main Street and Some Girls. The disc rose to #2 on the charts in the US and won the Grammy for best rock album. In the UK, the disc did even better, reaching the top spot on the album charts. Of course, the Stones embarked on a monstrous world-wide tour in support of the album. The tour began on August 1, 1994, and lasted slightly over a year, grossing over $320 million, a record at the time. The band played 129 shows on 5 different continents. They brought the tour to South America in late January/early February 1995, with stops in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
