Grateful Dead 1990 - #1: While the Grateful Dead have officially released dozens and dozens of live shows, on;y 2 tours have been released in their entirety. One is the legendary Europe 72 run. And the other is ... Well if you guessed Spring 1977 or Summer 1974 or Fall 1980, you'd be wrong, The only other complete tour officially released is Spring 1990, the March/April run up and down the East Coast that featured some of the band's most inspired playing, well probably since some of those classic tours I just mentioned.  In any event, we'll bring you the 3 shows in Oakland that served as the warm up for Spring 1990 starting with this soundboard recording from February 25, 1990, 28 years ago today,  Download this one, then come back tomorrow and the next day for parts 2 and 3 of this entry.
