Los Lobos 2022 - Back To Back - #1: When it comes to music venues, New York City has more than you can count. The metropolatain area boasts 3 stadiums, 4 arenas, medium sized venues such as the Beacon, The Capitol in Portchester and The Theatre at MSG, over 40 Broadway theaters and countless small clubs. With alll those options, its amazing how certain bands eventually pick a favorite they return to again and again. In the 1980s and 1990s, for example, The Band loved playing at the Lonestar Cafe. The Grateful Dead made Madison Square Garden their home, playing runs as long as 9 shows, and setting a record, since broken, for the most concerts ever played at the World's Most Famous Arena. The Allman Brothers annual residency at the Beacon is the stuff of legends. Los Lobos seems to be following in that tradition, turning City Winery into their venue of choice whenever they visit NYC. This excellent audience recording captures them at City Winery just a year sgo today, on December 19, 2023.
