1960s - #6: Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Dewy Martin, Bruce Palmer and Jim Messina. Six historic rock names who came together for all too brief a period to produce some of rock's finest music, only to break apart to spawn a dozen more rock legends. For a group that barely lasted 3 years, Buffalo Springfield has one of the most impressive legacies of any rock and roll band. Their 3 albums included such classics as Mr. Soul, Burned, Sit Down I Think I Love You, Bluebird, Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing, Special Care, Kind Woman and, of course, For What Its Worth. From the ashes of their break up arose such groups as CSN/CSNY, Poco, Loggins & Messina and Souther-Hillman-Furay band, not to mention the historic solo careers of Neil Young and Stephen Stills. This soundboard recording captures, Buffalo Springfield on April 29, 1967, 57 years ago today, at the Hollywood Bowl, on a bill headlined by The Supremes! Nice to have this as the Springfield was only active as a whole band for about two years. Yet any chance some of the other recordings from this concert exist? Would love to hear the Supremes and Fifth Dimension from this period.
