After playing concerts with the Grateful Dead in the summer of 1987, Dylan seemed inspired by their commitment to live performing. Starting the next year, on June 7, 1988, Dylan launched what his fns now call “The Never Ending Tour.” While Dylan isn’t fond of that moniker, he has most certainly been on the road almost every year since 1988, often playing the same cities year after year at just about the same time on the calendar (similar to how the Dead example, would always make their East Coast run after year in September and October. As of August 4, 2013, the Never Ending tour has stretched for 25 years and 2530 concerts! When Dylan played in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 30, 1991, 22 years ago today, however, it was only concert #348!
