2003 - After going far too long without posting any John Hiatt here at So Many Roads, this marks the 3rd straight month we’ve brought you one of his shows. On May 6, 2003, Hiatt released his 17th studio album, entitled Beneath This Gruff Exterior. The album marked his debut with New West Records, and was also the first to credit his backing band, The Goners, on the front cover. The Goners, consisting of Sonny Landreth on guitar, David Ranson on bass and Kenneth Blevins on drums, had also backed Hiatt on the albums Slow Turning and The Tiki Bar Is Open. This FM broadcast captures Hiatt and the Goners on tour in support of Beneath This Gruff Exterior in Switzerland on November 16, 2003, a decade ago today.
