1994 - On August 1, 1994, the Rolling Stones launched their Voodoo Lounge Tour, in support of the album of the same name. The tour would last a year and a month, and visit 6 of the 7 continents! This was the band’s first tour without original bassist Bill Wyman, who was replaced by Darryl Jones. The tour grossed $320 million, becoming the highest grossing tour of any artist at that time. The album, released on July 11, 1994, went to #2 on the Billboard charts and sold over 2 million copies. In addition, it would go on to win the Grammy for best Rock album. Despite that success, Voodoo Lounge became the first Stone’s disc not to produce a top 40 single in the US (although 4 did hit the top 40 in the UK). This soundboard recording captures the Stones on the first leg of the Voodoo Lounge Tour, in Miami on November 25, 1994, 19 years ago today.
