As promised yesterday, here’s our second installment from the Grateful Dead from April 1977. This one is a soundboard recording from Springfield from April 23, 1977, 37 years ago today,. I personally think this is one of the finest, and most underrated shows from the Spring tour. Check out the Scarlet Begonia into Fire On The Mountain to close the first set, as well as the incredible segue of Help on The Way, Slipknot, Franklin’s Tower, Around and Around, Going Down The Road, and Not Fade Away to conclude the second set. Download this one, then come back on April 25 and April 27 for our last 2 installments from Spring 1977. PS - artwork indicates this is a matrix recording, but it truly is a soundboard.

I've always loved this show and recommend it every chance I get. It's miles better than the previous night, It is unlike many other spring '77 shows in that Keith plays organ and electronic keyboards a lot here, in addition to his piano. And look at the unique set list, at least in order of performance. These uncommon choices lend to some fine moments in spaces that were not often explored in more conventionally-constructed sets. Highly recommended. There are also more and very fine James R. Anderson photos of the event floating around out there in addition to the small Jerry on the back artwork (by James R. Anderson). It's a good one!
Please give a new link - the old one is not working anymore.
Thank you.
