John Fogerty - 1997-06-26 - Roskilde Festival, Denmark (SBD)
The first Roskilde Festival was held on August 28 and 29, 1971, featuring 20 bands that drew a crowd of about 10,000. Sincee hen, the festival has grown to be a week long affair, drawing over 100,000. John Fogerty headlined the first day of the 1997 festival, on June 26, 28 years ago today, as captured in this soundboard recording. Fogerty was in tour in support of the album Blue Moon Swamp, his first studio recording in 11 years, which had been rleased on May 20. The disc climbed to #37 on the Billboard charts and certified gold. Rolling Stone gave the album a 4 star review and in 1998, it won a Grammy for best Rock Album. After years out of the spotlight, John Fogerty was back.

Thanks for this. Glad Fogerty is still out there age 80, but have to admit I rolled my eyes when he said he was going to pull a Taylor Swift and re-record his old CCR songs so he could make more money off them. He always got performance royalties even when Saul Zaentz cheated him in the songwriting, and those classics are like classic films and cannot be remade. It may interest you that a look on archive.org revealed a fine set of recordings from other years of this festival, including a Springsteen set from 2012 and sets from Lou Reed, Radiohead, and NIN among others.
