In June 1997, Steve Winwood released his 7th solo album, appropriately entitled Junction Seven. The title was taken from the name of the nearest highway to Winwood's childhood home in Great Barr, Birmingham. For Winwood, it was his first album since 1990's Refugee From The Heart. Despite a star studded line up, including Nile Rodgers and Lenny Kravitz on guitar, and Grammy award winning producer Narada Michael Walden at the helm, the album did not fare well commercially or critically. Winwood would take 6 year break from making music, not releasing another disc until 2003.
