Led Zeppelin - Double Play 1979 - #1:  After their 1977 tour was cut short due to the tragic death of Robert Plant's son, the band took two years off the regroup and recover. During that time, they recorded what would turn out to be their final studio album, In Through The Out Door.  When Led Zep decided to return to the stage, they did so in the only way that a band that was known for its spectacle and grandeur could, by headlining the Knebworth Festival on August 4, 1979. Ticket demand for the initial performance was so great that a second show was added on August 11. Zeppelin would return to the stage in front of over 400,000 fans during those 2 days, reinforcing their place at the time as rock's biggest act. To tune for those 2 massive Knebworth concerts, Led Zep played 2 shows on a much smaller scale at the 2000 seat Falkoner Theatre in Denmark.  This high quality audience recording captures night 1 at the Falkoner, on July 23, 1979, 33 years ago today,  Download this one, then come tomorrow for part 2 of this Daily Double.

I was there :-) And it was a truly magical evening. Even though the show was 2-3 hours late - due to some road accident with one of their trucks. (And that's probably why they played a longer concert the day after).
