The year 1977 belonged to Fleetwood Mac. On February 4, the band released Rumours, an album about and fueled by the emotional tensions within the band as long term relationships between John & Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham, and Mick Fleetwood and his wife Jenny, all came to an end. Rumours went to #1 on the Billboard charts, won the Grammy for album of the year, garnered critical acclaim, and has sold over 19 million copies, making it one of the top 10 bestselling albums of all time. The album also helped launch another new rock trend - a glossy, polished, highly produced sound that in many ways became synonymous with the album/radio oriented rock of the decade. The album has also stood the test of time, being ranked #25 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, while both Time Magazine and VH1 listed it among the 100 best albums ever. This soundboard recording captures the band on tour after the release of Rumours, in Paris on April 14, 1977, 43 years ago today.
