The 1989 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class featured the star power of the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, the late great Otis Redding, The Temptations and Dion. Those present rocked the house, with help from some special guests. Tina Turner, on hand to induct Phil Spector, performed River Deep, Mountain High and provided backing vocals for Dion on The Wanderer. Bruce Springsteen, who was a regular at almost very one of these early induction ceremonies, paid tribute to 1987 inductee Roy Orbison, who died just a weeks earlier.
