In February 2008, Sheryl Crow released her 6th studio album, Detours, a record, which while often characterized as political in nature, also deals with her personal struggles and triumphs. "The songs are very inspired by the last three years of events in my life," Crow said of a time that found her battling breast cancer, splitting with partner Lance Armstrong and raising her adopted son, Wyatt. Detours debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts, selling about 92,000 copies in its first week and an additional 52,000 in its second week. The album's chart success was matched with critical praise, including excellent reviews from Rolling Stone, the Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, and USA Today.
