If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know all about the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ, a town just about 15 miles west of Manhattan, by way of the Lincoln Tunnel. Very few, if any other legendary concert venues could also claim to be X-rated movie theater during the day! John Scher, the Bill Graham of the East Coast, started producing shows at the 3200-seat Capitol in 1971, soon after the Fillmore East closed. Thanks to Scher, many of rock's largest acts, such as The Stones, The Dead, The Who and Bruce Springsteen, would play shows at the Capitol long after they became superstars selling our 50,000 seat stadiums. This soundboard recording captures one of those legendary Springsteen shows at the Capitol, on September 20, 1978, 34 years ago today. Download this one to hear Bruce on his home turf, then check out his performance the previous night at the Capitol at this link. By the way - I originally had a SBD of this show at 192 kbps that was missing 3 songs, but just 2 days ago, thanks to the folks at Midnight Cafe, We now have this 320 kbps SBD of the complete show!
