Over the next 4 days, as part of our Same Tour, Different show theme, we're going to bring you 4 posts from Pink Floyd at the Rainbow Theatre in London in February 1972.  Right up front, We want you to know that the sound quality on these shows, for the most part, isn't up to our usual standard.  While the final show may be an FM source, the other 3 are audience tapes ranging from ok (show #2) to verry good (shows #1 and #3 - hard to tell which is better, I like #3 but friends of mine prefer #1).  So, why post them then? Well, these 4 shows are historically significant as Pink Floyd gave the British press their opportunity to hear 45 minutes of new music that the band had been developing. This suite of tunes, originally entitled Eclipse, would eventually comprise the legendary album Dark Side of The Moon.  The Rainbow concerts took place over a year before the album wad released, but the reviews provided a preview of what was to come.. Michael Wale of The Times described the piece as "... bringing tears to the eyes. It was so completely understanding and musically questioning." Derek Jewell of The Sunday Times wrote "The ambition of the Floyd's artistic intention is now vast."  So too would be the success of Dark Side of The Moon, as the album would sell over 50 million copies worldwide and remain on the Billboard Charts in the US for an almost incomprehensible 741 weeks spanning 15 years from 1973 to 1988.
