Jerry Garcia 1986 - #2: As promised, here is the 2nd part of our Same Tour, Different show entry featuring Jerry Garcia playing acoustic at The Ritz in 1986. This one is a soundboard recording from January 28, 1986, 29 years ago today.

I was there that night, up in the balcony (didn't feel like fighting the crowd on the floor), but the Ritz was small enough that you weren't far from the stage no matter where you were.
It was less than a month after the pretty awful 12/31/85 show, when Garcia was obviously out of it from drugs or other causes, so we had some trepidations about what we would see at this show.
We needn't have worried. Jerry may have still displayed his unhealthy affect -- standing stock still with his hair in his face, not looking at anyone -- but his playing and singing were as soulful and sweet as anyone could have hoped for.
I had never seen Jerry play acoustic so this show was a real treat for me; he also played some of my favorite songs: Ripple, Deep Elem and o-my-God-is-he-really-playing-that -- Gomorrah!
The show was very short but so good no one felt shortchanged. Download this one, folks, you won't be disappointed!
